project unlabeled : i define me
you've seen the campaign, now here's the video!

turn your volume up. make the video full screen. take it all in. then, share it with the world!

this is the week! saturday, september 12th we'd like to invite everyone out to dc on film row located at 609 w. sheridian from 12 noon to 3pm for a free come and go event where we will be screening the official project unlabeled video. this video will include images and videos of each of the 92 girls that were photographed along with the never before heard poem of telesa hines written specifically for project unlabeled entitled "shades of sun."

some of the girls chose to participate in filming a "labeled" video. these videos show the "labels" or stereotypes that have placed on them; words they have personally been called; boxes they've been put in. then, this is contrasted with the words that each girl NOW CHOOSES TO USE TO DEFINE HERSELF. meet secily.

project unlabeled : i define me was created to empower, affirm and encourage the little black girl from birth to 18 by bringing together the powers of photography and the spoken word. It serves as a notice and as a reminder that you can do and be whatever it is that you choose to be and that society and others cannot dictate that to you, label you or confine you; you are only limited by you.
over the course of the next week and a half we will continue to share video and images of some of the nearly 100 girls that have participated in the project unlabeled project.
